Acting for musical theatre
This academic track trains actors both for musicals and for operas. Among the program’s graduates are soloists of the Zazerkale Theatre and Musical Comedy Theatres, the stars of many musicals. Training for actors in musical theatre combines the skills for solo singing and the foundations of expressiveness in acting. Opera singers and actors in musicals should be no less proficient in working with their bodies than dramatic actors. For this reason, in addition to many hours of solo singing, the training program for actors of musical theatre contains such disciplines as Acting, Stage Movement (which includes fencing), Acrobatics, Stage Speech and Dance. These professional classes are complemented by a wide range of lessons in the humanities, so that the future soloists of musical theatres have a clear understanding of the History of European Theatre, History of Russian Theatre, Philosophy, History of Literature (Russian and European), History of Visual Art (with lessons held in the Hermitage and Russian Museum) and more.
